With India losing the tie in the first three matches, the second women’s doubles between Tanisha Crasto- Treesa Jolly and Aimsaard sisters as well as the third women’s singles between Ashmitha Chaliha and Busanan Ongbumrangphan were deemed irrelevant as Thailand had progressed to the semis.

India vs Thailand LIVE – Uber Cup Quarterfinals LIVE: The India women’s team dealt with injury blows and withdrawals just before the start of the tournament with doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy pulling out of the tournament after the latter faced a abdomen injury and at the last minute Gayathri Gopichand also had to withdraw as she suffered a hip injury.
Despite fielding a second-string side, the Indian women exceeded the expectations as they won their first two matches. However, against a strong Korea side, the women succumbed to a 0-5 defeat as even PV Sindhu could not win her contest. They once again faced a disappointing 0-3 loss against Thailand that brought an end to their campaign. World No.8 Ratchanok Intanon, World No.10 Pornpawee Chochuwong and World No.11 Busanan Ongbamrungphan.

World No.7 PV Sindhu, who entered the contest after facing a defeat in her previous game against An-Seyoung was off-colour in her second straight game of the tournament as she faced a 21-18, 17-21, 12-21 defeat against Ratchanok Intanon.
The game lasted for 59 minutes in which Sindhu fought hard and won the first set. In the second set, the Indian began to struggle as she trailed 1-5 early in the set. Intanon went into the break with a lead of 11-4. Sindhu kept on fighting and despite managing to reduc the lead, she couldn’t overpower her opponent as she lost the set 17-21.
In the third set Sindhu gave a much tough fight as Intanon led by a slender margin of 11-8 by the break. But the momentum shifted in favour of the Thailand player as Intanon won five points in a row to take a big lead with the score at 14-9. From then on it became an one-sided contest as Intanon won the set 21-12.

Aakarshi Kashyap will be up for a tough challenge as she is likely to face World No.10 Pornpawee Chochuwong. Kashyap won two games in the league stage before losing against World No.19 Kim Ga-eun in straight sets against South Korea. The 54th ranked Indian will need to be at her best to stand any chance of winning against Chochuwong.
Chochuwong has not lost a single game in her three matches so far. Chochuwong strated her BWF season this year at the Korea Open and finished as runner up after losing to An-Seyoung. She is the overwhelming favourite in the upcoming contest.
Women’s Doubles:
Shruti Mishra / Simran Singhi vs Jongkolphan Kititharakul /Pawinda Prajongjai
The Indian duo of Shruti Mishra and Simran Singhi got off to a positive start as they led the first set until the scores were 7-6. Soon the Indians lost steam as the experienced Thailand pair came into the contest and started dominating the match. They managed to enter the break with a 11-8 lead over the Indians. Mishra-Singhi duo came back strongly and even took the lead when the scores were 16-15. However, they conceded six straight points to the Thailand pair and lost the first set 16-21.
In the second set too the Indians led at the start and the Thailand pair made a comeback midway through the set. After leading the second set 11-8, they continued their domination as they won the set 13-21 and also won the match.
