The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup is around the corner and the second edition of the prestigious tournament is set to see the defending champions India go up against West Indies, in the opening match. The tournament that is scheduled to take place between January 18 & February 2, will be played in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, India has been clubbed alongside Malaysia, West Indies and Sri Lanka in Group A. In the last ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, it was India, who beat England in the final. Now, the latter are in Group B, along with Ireland, Pakistan and the USA.
There will be two more groups in the competition. The C group will see South Africa, New Zealand, new entrants Samoa and another undecided qualifier from Africa. Lastly, Group D will see Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland, and a qualifier from Asia together.

Format of ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup
The tournament will be played in the round-robin format, as each team will end up playing three matches in the league stages. From there on, the teams will go into super six stage. The competition will not be over for the bottom-placed teams from each group, as they will be playing for last-place playoff on January 24.
If India do make it to the semis, then they would play their last 4 match at Bayuemas Oval on January 31. There are reserve days for both semi-finals, as well as the final.
