Twitter flooded with memes as Temba Bavuma caught snoozing during World Cup Captain’s day event

The fans flooded the memes on the social media platforms after Temba Bavuma was caught snoozing during World Cup Captain's day meet.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma was caught snoozing during the Captain’s day meet for the upcoming World Cup on October 4 (Thursday). Apart from Bavuma, captains of other teams including Kane Williamson, Shakib al Hasan, Dasun Shanaka were also seen on the stage while Temba was caught sleeping. Meanwhile, the fans on social media had a laugh riot as some of them also made some hilarious memes on the African skipper.

Bavuma joined South African squad today for World Cup

To note, Bavuma was not part of the South African squad during the warm-up games as Aiden Markram led the Proteas during the practice matches. The right-handed batter has shocked everyone after he suddenly had to fly back to South Africa for “family reasons” last week causing him to miss the two warm-up matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand.

However, Bavuma reached Delhi on Wednesday to join the squad before going for the Captain’s meet of the upcoming event. Some fans on social media claimed that a long flight from Africa to India was the reason for Bavuma napping during the meet of the skippers.

As it turned out, Bavuma did not miss much on-field action due to both warm-up matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand being heavily affected by the weather. The Afghanistan clash was completely abandoned, while Monday’s hit out against the Black Caps allowed the bowlers to get a full complement of 50 overs under their belts but the batters were only out there for 37 overs before they were forced to return to the sheds.

Insidesport

The South African side left Thiruvananthapuram and reached the capital city on September 3. Meanwhile, Temba Bavuma and Co. will now have training sessions in Delhi before they take on Sri Lanka in their opening encounter of the World Cup. The match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 7 (Saturday).
