“Trolling hurts me”: Emotional Prithvi Shaw’s video resurfaces after going unsold in IPL auction

Prithvi Shaw, once India’s cricketing hope, faced heartbreak after going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. His emotional video on trolling resurfaced.

Once India’s big hope in the cricketing world, Prithvi Shaw is now struggling to get a buyer in the IPL auction. The 25-year-old cricketer for Mumbai faced his rock bottom this year when he failed to find any buyers in the IPL 2025 auction. Despite having a starting price of Rs 75 lakh, no team was interested in him, who was once part of the Indian team.

Delhi Capitals, who had previously let him go, didn’t attract any offers for him either. After this disappointment, an old video of Prithvi resurfaced on social media. In this video, Prithvi talks about how he deals with trolling and mentions that he follows all the memes and jokes made about him.

Prithvi talks about trolling

Prithvi says, “If someone is not following me, how can they troll me? It means they are watching me. I believe trolling isn’t nice, but it’s not entirely bad either. Everyone, including cricketers, gets trolled. I see all the jokes and it sometimes hurts me.”

He further adds, “When I am seen outside more often, people say I am not practicing. But I think to myself – it’s my birthday, can’t I celebrate? I wonder what wrong I’ve done. I know when I do something wrong. But if it’s not wrong, it should be shown in a positive way.”

Mohammad Kaif’s views on Prithvi Shaw’s situation

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif commented that it was embarrassing for Prithvi Shaw not to get any bids. “Delhi supported Prithvi a lot, expecting him to perform well in powerplays. He did show potential, like hitting Shivam Mavi for six fours in an over, and Delhi trusted his talent. We thought, if Shaw scores, we win and gave him many opportunities,” Kaif said on Jio Cinema.

Kaif concluded by saying, “Prithvi had many chances, and now teams have moved on. It’s embarrassing that he didn’t get a single bid for Rs 75 lakh. Maybe it’s time for him to go back to basics. Look at Sarfaraz Khan, who made it to the national team by scoring tons of runs.”
