Chasing a total of 164, which was the highest-ever total registered in the history of the Women’s T20 challenge, Trailblazers openers Smriti Mandhana and Hayley Mathews got off to a great start scoring 34 runs off the first four overs.
Pooja Vastrakar was soon introduced into the attack in the fifth over and she broke the opening partnership straightaway. She dismissed opener Hayley Mathews by inducing an edge, which was caught by the wicket-keeper. Vastrakar then came back in her next over and took the wicket of Smriti Mandhana, who looked set after scoring 34 off 23 balls.
Within a span of three balls, she also dismissed Sophia Dunkley as Trailblazers lost three wickets for just 65 runs after eight overs. This initiated a batting collapse with Trailblazers losing the next four wickets, adding just 8 runs on the board.
Vastrakar came back to bow her second spell and in her last over took the wicket of Salma Khatun to register a four-wicket haul. Apart from picking up wickets, she was also economical as she conceded just 12 runs in her quota of four overs.
