Varanasi is preparing to introduce a unique cricket stadium that will stand out due to its distinctive architectural features. According to a report from Jagran News, the stadium’s design is dedicated to Lord Shiva, with a dome shaped like a Trishul (trident), floodlights resembling a Damru (drum), an entrance gate crafted to resemble Belpatra (Bael leaves), and seating arrangements that mimic the steps of the Ganga Ghat.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has designed the stadium, and the project plans have been finalized. The next steps involve seeking approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and obtaining no-objection certificates from various departments, including those related to forests and groundwater.

On September 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium in Varanasi’s Ganjari Area. The estimated cost of the stadium is approximately INR 450 crore, and it will feature modern amenities, accommodating around 30,000 spectators.

Following the acquisition of necessary no-objection certificates, the process will begin with leveling the acquired land and constructing the stadium’s boundary wall. The government has allocated INR 120 crore for land acquisition, with the remaining INR 330 crore earmarked for stadium construction.
