Australia’s aggressive opener batter, Travis Head has signed up to play for BBL side Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming Big Bash League 2024-25 season, despite Australia’s packed international schedule. The BBL will run from December 15 to January 27, coinciding with much anticipated Australia’s five-match home Test series against India, also called as Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) and a short Test tour to Sri Lanka.
With this signing, the left-hander will only be available for a maximum of three matches for the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL if he chooses to play all the matches in BGT.
Travis Head signed an year contract
Travis Head has signed a one-year deal with Adelaide Strikers for the BBL 2024-25 season, amidst Australia’s tight Test schedule against India and Sri Lanka. While the 30-year-old can only play up to three games for the Strikers, this marks his return to the BBL after a two-year gap.
“I’m thrilled to sign for another year with the Strikers and can’t wait to get back amongst the group under our new coach Tim Paine,” Head said. “I love pulling on the blue every chance I get and look forward to helping the boys go one step further after their fantastic late season run to the finals last summer.”he added.
Paine keen on Head’s return to strikers
Strikers’ new coach, former Australian captain Tim Paine, is well aware of Head’s busy calendar but is eager to have him onboard this season. “We understand ‘Trav’ has a hectic international schedule, but we also know how much he loves getting back in the blue whenever the chance arises,” Paine said.
Australia will host India in an exciting five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series, starting on November 22 at Perth’s Optus Stadium. Although the schedule for Australia’s Sri Lanka tour is yet to be finalised, reports suggest the reigning WTC champions will head to the island in the third week of January.
