Simran Shaikh became the most expensive player at Rs 1.9 Crore as Gujarat Giants Women secured her services. West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin was also rewarded for her form with Gujarat Giants Women securing her services for Rs 1.7 Cr. Mumbai Indians Women spent Rs 1.6 Cr for 16-year-old G Kamalini, making her the most expensive teenager at the WPL 2025 Auction.
Franchises retained a total of 71 players as part of WPL 2025 Retention List as revealed on November 7. Among the prominent international players, England captain Heather Knight, New Zealand fast bowler Lea Tahuhu, and West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin will be up for auction. The notable Indian players looking to attract bids are Sneh Rana, Poonam Yadav, and batter Veda Krishnamurthy.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction will take place in Bengaluru, India, on December 15, 2024. A total of 165 players have registered for the auction, including 61 overseas players and 104 Indian players. However, only 120 players will go under the hammer at the auction.

In the short WPL 2025 Mini Auction, franchises could only pick a total of 19 players. And while not a lot of big name players were in the auction, Shimran Shaikh became the most expensive player at Rs 1.9 Cr. Ahead of the mega auction in 2025, franchises did not want to rebuild their squads from scratch.
