The Hundred is a professional 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men’s and eight women’s teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The tournament is run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and took place for the first time in July and August 2021.
Format
The format of The Hundred is designed to appeal to a new audience and make cricket more accessible to a wider range of people. Each match lasts around two and a half hours, with each team playing a single innings of 100 balls. This is significantly shorter than traditional cricket formats, which can last for several days.
Rules
There are a number of other rule changes that have been made to make The Hundred more exciting and fast-paced. For example, each team is allowed to score a maximum of 25 runs per over, and there are a number of restrictions on bowling and fielding.
