Road Safety World Series

The Road Safety World Series is a T20 tournament that features only the retired players from cricket teams across the world. The unique tournament will have the yesteryear greats teaming up together for their country. It is a brainchild of Ravi Gaikwad, Chief Road Transport Officer in Thane. The tournament’s initiative is to create awareness on road safety and make the roads safer for all.

The Road Safety World series began in 2020 featuring legendary retired cricketers from India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies. Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, Makhaya Ntini were some of the legendary cricketers to play in the inaugural edition.

After a few matches, the inaugural edition was forced to stop mid-way owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the tournament resumed from where it was stopped in 2020 and India Legends won the inaugural edition. India Legends also defended their title in the next edition that was played in 2022.

The third edition of the tournament was originally scheduled to begin on 23rd September. It was announced that the tournament will move out of India for the first time with England named as the hosts. However the tournament has been postponed indefinitely.
