The MA Chidambaram Stadium, commonly known as Chepauk Stadium, is located in Chennai, India. Opened in 1916, it is one of the oldest cricket stadiums in the country. With a seating capacity of around 50,000, it has witnessed many historic cricketing moments and is the home ground of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. The Niranjan Shah Stadium formerly known as Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, located in Rajkot, India, is a modern cricketing venue known for its state-of-the-art facilities. Opened in 2008, it serves as the home ground for the Saurashtra cricket team.

With a seating capacity of over 37,000, the MCA Stadium in Pune is known for its outstanding infrastructure, including modern dressing rooms, excellent pitch conditions, and state-of-the-art floodlights. Apart from cricket, it also hosts other sporting events and entertainment activities, further cementing its status as a multi-purpose Venus. The MCA Stadium has certainly become a cornerstone of Pune’s sporting landscape.

However, it has faced some criticism for being located far from the city, as it is situated in Gahunje, approximately 28 km away from Pune. The MCA Stadium hosted its first international match in December 2012, when India played England in a T20I. In the same year, it also made its IPL debut, with Pune Warriors India taking on Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab). Since then, the stadium has been home to numerous thrilling encounters, both international and domestic, and is regarded as one of the finest cricketing venues in the country.

5th T20I, Feb 02, Sunday – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

One of the most iconic grounds in Indian soil, Wankhede Stadium has been known for creating many memorable moments for India. First and foremost, it hosted India’s World Cup win in 2011, and it was also the venue for local champion Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement in 2013.

These unforgettable moments over the years have made this ground a cherished memory. Owned and operated by the Mumbai Cricket Association, it serves as the home ground for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. The ground has witnessed numerous major matches over the years. Located near Marine Drive in the Churchgate area, it is surrounded by some historic cricket clubs, including Parsi Gymkhana, Hindu Gymkhana, and the Cricket Club of India.

1st ODI, Feb 6, Thursday – Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur

With a seating capacity of around 45,000, it has hosted numerous international and domestic matches, including Tests, One-Day Internationals, and T20s. Known for its lively atmosphere and passionate fans, the stadium offers a unique cricketing experience. The pitch at Barabati Stadium is generally balanced, providing opportunities for both batsmen and bowlers. 3rd ODI, Feb 12, Wednesday – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

One of the most modern and largest cricket stadiums in the world, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has a capacity of 132,000. Currently, it is India’s most famous venue for hosting cricket games. Owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association, it hosts both domestic and international matches. It is important to note that this stadium replaced the old Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, which was demolished in 2015.

The new stadium, originally named Motera Stadium, was designed by Australia’s Populous and built by Larsen and Toubro at a cost of ₹800 crore. It took five years to complete and features four dressing rooms, 11 centre pitches, and two practice grounds, which can also be used for domestic matches. The most famous game at this venue was during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, when India played Pakistan and defeated them convincingly. However, India lost in the final against Australia, which was a setback for a team who were on a 10-match winning streak.
