Members of the India cricket team, along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, landed in Sri Lanka on Monday night. The Men in Blue will take on the neighbours in a three-match T20I and ODI series that will commence from July 26. The series marks the beginning of the Gambhir era who has taken over the reins as he head coach from Rahul Dravid.
India land in Colombo for Sri Lanka series
Prior to the team’s departure from Mumbai, Gambhir addressed a press conference where he highlighted what his goals over the next few years were going to be. The former World Cup winning star admitted that he had big shoes to fill in, noting that the Champions Trophy 2025, WTC and 2026 World Cup were on his targets list.
The southpaw reiterated his demand for players to play all formats of the game, claiming that Rohit and Kohli were in form and that could very well continue playing till 2027. Gambhir highlighted why Bumrah was given an extended break, stressing on the need for workload management for the talented pacer.
