India, under captain Rohit Sharma‘s leadership and inspired by a fighting knock of 76 runs from Virat Kohli, emerged victorious in a nail-biting final against South Africa. They posted a competitive total of 176 runs on the board, with crucial contributions from both Kohli and Axar Patel, who smashed 47 runs off just 31 balls.

In reply, South Africa fell short by a mere seven runs, managing only 169 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

This historic victory wasn’t just about cricketing glory. The ICC awarded India a hefty sum of $2.45 million (approximately INR 20.42 crore) for clinching the T20 World Cup title. South Africa, despite their valiant effort, received $1.28 million (approximately INR 10.67 crore) for finishing as runners-up.

The victory was a testament to the combined effort of the entire Indian team. While Kohli and Sharma led from the front, both with bat and captaincy respectively, bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya played crucial roles in restricting South Africa’s chase.
