The Gujarat Titans (GT) will undergone a ownership change before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. There were reports of a change previously and now it’s been confirmed. The Torrent Group will buy a majority stake (67%) from GT’s current owners, the CVC Capital Partners.
Torrent Group buys majority shares in Gujarat Tians
Back in 2021, CVC Capital Partners bought Gujarat Titans. The team from Ahmedabad made their debut in IPL in 2022 and went on to lift the title. They reached the finals in 2023, only to lose to CSK. But in IPL 2024, they finished eighth.
The CVC Capital Partners had paid Rs 5625 crore to buy the franchise. Back then the Torrent Froup too had participated in the bidding auction but failed to buy a team. It had bid to buy the franchise teams from Ahmedabad (Rs 4653 crore) and Lucknow (Rs 4356 crore). Eventually, in 2023, the team tried their best to buy a team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) but failed.
