Top MI rejects who could be star performers in IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians have released some big names ahead of IPL 2025, but among them, a few are expected to perform well in the upcoming IPL season.

IPL 2025 is going to be big, as many changes have happened. Some players who have been with teams for several years are now going to play for different teams. Every team is set with its new squad, and five-time champions Mumbai Indians have also made some tweaks. Many players who have been with MI for the last few IPL seasons are now going to play for different teams.

MI first retained Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah, then brought in some strong players like Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Will Jacks to strengthen their side. But what about the MI rejects? Many believe that several released MI players will perform really well in the upcoming season.

So, who are those ex-MI players we can expect to do well? Take a look at the top MI rejects who could be star performers in IPL 2025.

Ishan Kishan

After spending some fruitful years with MI, Ishan Kishan is now set to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad, having been picked up recently by the IPL 2024 finalists. Speaking about this, the swashbuckling batter is expected to be a wonderful addition to the SRH top order. Although his Vijay Hazare outing has seen mixed results, he is surely a big player in T20 cricket and is expected to be a part of the playing XI alongside players like Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. With 2644 runs in 105 IPL matches at a strike rate of 135.87, Ishan has had a good run. His experience makes him one of the MI rejects who could shine in IPL 2025.

Tim David

One of the most talked-about names is Australian cricketer Tim David. Looking back to the IPL 2022 mega auction, six IPL teams bid for him, and gradually, he earned the reputation of a finisher. Although David was released by MI, when he was part of the team, he single-handedly won games for them on several occasions. Having played 38 IPL games to date, he understands the value of scoring fast runs. Now, he will play for RCB in IPL 2025, and he is expected to do well with his power-packed batting and bowling as well.

Nehal Wadhera

One uncapped player expected to deliver good results is Nehal Wadhera, who is set to play for Punjab Kings this time. This flamboyant player did really well with the opportunities he got in 20 games, accumulating nearly 350 runs at a strike rate of 140, showing how well he can make big runs. Since he now has to play a key role for Punjab Kings, all eyes will be on him and how well he performs for PBKS in IPL 2025.
