Indian Premier League is the only talk of the town since the cash-rich league is coming. But do you know some of the top Indian players who have played the most matches in IPL?

We are all set to enter IPL 2025, but what’s getting attention is the talk of some Indian players who have played many IPL matches and contributed to their respective teams until now. Surely, many names have appeared in the IPL for a long time, although some names are now retired. For example, Dinesh Karthik, who played until IPL 2024, will no longer be part of the IPL. Apart from that, if we look at the top players who are still playing and have vast experience, as they have been in the IPL setup since the tournament’s inception, let’s take a look at the big Indian players who have played the most matches in IPL so far.

MS Dhoni on top!

Now, all the top five Indian players are here on this list, and they are legends. Starting with MS Dhoni, who is still on top, although there were speculations in the past that he might hang up his boots after the 2023 IPL, and even after finishing the 2024 IPL, many thought he might retire. But the reality is, he is still playing and doing incredibly well. He understands where he currently stands and how he can contribute, doing wonders to this day. He has played an impressive 264 matches, scoring 5,243 runs, with a highest score of 84* and a remarkable 152 catches.

Next, the now-retired Dinesh Karthik follows closely with 257 matches, making 4,842 runs with a highest score of 97*. Then comes former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, also with 257 matches. He has scored 6,628 runs, with a highest score of 109* and 15 wickets, including a best of 4/6. After that, we have Virat Kohli, another big name whose presence alone attracts the crowd. He has played 252 matches, scored 8,004 runs, with a highest score of 113*.

Ravindra Jadeja completes the top five with 240 matches, scoring 2,959 runs and taking 160 wickets, including a best of 5/16, alongside 103 catches. These players have been key contributors to their respective teams and have set numerous records in IPL history.
