Top 5 surprise unsold players in IPL 2025 Mega Auction

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction was held on 24-25th November in Jeddah

While players were sold left, right, and center, there have also been some big names who were ignored in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. While youngsters went on to rake in huge bucks, there have been quite a few named stars who were conveniently avoided. Here we take a look at 5 surprise unsold players in the IPL 2025 Auction.

David Warner

The ace Australian opener, David Warner retired from international cricket a couple of months back. But the Aussie legend failed to receive any bids and went unsold in the Mega Auction. It can be understood that teams were unwilling to bank on the star player who is now way past his prime and has probably reached the end of his T20 career.

Jonny Bairstow

Destructive English batter Jonny Bairstow was another batter who was completely ignored by all 10 teams in the IPL auction. Albeit, having a base price of 2 crore, Bairstow failed to attract any interest. His performances off late in the past 2 seasons are a major reason for the English hard hitter in finding no suitors in Jeddah.

Mayank Agarwal

Former India Cricket Team batter Mayank Agarwal was another name that was ignored in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Heading into the auction with a base price of 1 crore, the Karnataka batter attracted no interest. Having previously played trades for Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mayank Agarwal is now a ghost of his past after the IPL auction snub.

Shardul Thakur

Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur was a major surprise player to remain unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Fans were left shocked when the Lord was conveniently ignored by all 10 sides. Starting with a base price of 2 crores, Shardul would have been a decent addition to any team. But his injuries and poor form off late saw him getting the snub.

Umesh Yadav

Ace former India Cricket Team pacer Umesh Yadav was yet another player who was surprisingly ignored in the IPL 2025 Auction. None of the teams bothered to pick up the former KKR pacer for a base price of 2 crores. It can be well understood that poor form and age have been a reason for his snub.
