After the cricket World Cup, the focus will turn to the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, which takes place in Dubai on December 19, once the current ODI World Cup concludes. Many foreign players will be hoping to score a lucrative deal at the IPL 2024 auction after some strong showings in the ODI World Cup. There’ll be a small auction. For the IPL 2024 auction, each team’s purse has been substantially boosted, going from INR 95 crore from the previous auction to INR 100 crore. Which fresh names have the potential to win big at the auction process?

Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand)

Rachin Ravindra has been in excellent form the Kiwis in the World Cup. Rachin Ravindra is currently on the third spot for the most runs in the World Cup. The left-handed batter has amassed 523 runs in eight innings at an excellent average of 74.71. He is playing at a strike rate of 107 and will be a batter to look out in the upcoming IPL auction.

Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka)

Sri Lanka stand-in captain Kusal Mendis has been in blazing form. Despite his recent failures, Mendis has given several quick starts to Sri Lanka in the World Cup and he might be picked in the upcoming IPL auction.

Bas de Leede (Netherlands)

Netherlands all-rounder Bas de Leede is a bright prospect. Leede has been decent with both bat and ball in the World Cup. Leede can be picked by atleast one of the IPL franchises including Kolkata Knight Riders or Sunrisers Hyderabad who lack a good pace all-rounder.

4. Dilshan Madhushanka (Sri Lanka)

Dilshan Madhushanka has been in phenomenal form in the ODI World Cup. The left-arm pacer is among the top wicket-takers with 21 scalps to his name in eight matches. The 21 wickets include a four-wicket haul and a fifer. With his left-armer’s angle, the Lankan pacer could be in business at the upcoming IPL auction.

5. Dunith Wellalage (Sri Lanka)

Dunith Wellalage impressed everyone during the Asia Cup. The left-arm spinner has a knack of picking up crucial wickets and in the Indian conditions he will get assistance and hence he could be a great addition for franchises. The Lankan cricketer could land himself a real good deal.
