In that 20-over World Cup, he played four matches and scored 100 runs with a poor strike rate of 98.03.

India performed well until the semis, but his slow innings of 11 runs off 21 balls in the finals against Sri Lanka proved that he didn’t deserve a spot in the World Cup squad that year.
