Things are not going right for Mitchell Starc. The highest paid player in the history of IPL conceded 50 runs in his four over spell without scalping a solitary wicket. So far in the tournament, the Australian pacer has gone on to claim only 5 wickets from 6 games. KKR is reportedly paying Starc 193 lakh per wicket, so far in this tournament.
Mitchell Starc was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping sum of 24.75 crores in the IPL 2024 Auction. Breaking down his salary, it all comes down to 7.3 lakh per delivery. So far Starc has gone on to bowl 22 overs, which accounts to 132 deliveries.
Too Costly!
Mitchell Starc is yet to justify his sky-high price tag in IPL 2024. The Australian pacer has managed to bag 5 wickets so far in this tournament. KKR are currently placed 2nd in the Points Table with 4 wins from 6 games. The only good thing, KKR is not reliant on Starc to win games.
With 132 deliveries bowled, Starc has gone on to claim 963.6 lakh rupees so far. And with 5 wickets taken, each wicket costs a whooping 192.72 lakh.
Starc’s latest poor run came in the previous game against Rajasthan Royals. The pacer completed his quota of 4 overs but in the ended managed to leak 50 runs without getting a single scalp. The Kolkata outfits will be dearly hoping for their ace pacer to fire on all cylinders and get wickets in the coming games.
