Rachin Ravindra isn’t certain to play in the Pakistan vs. New Zealand match. The Kiwi opener was unfortunately struck on his forehead while fielding at the Gaddafi Stadium. While fielding at deep square leg, Rachin lost sight of the ball while attempting to catch it and was hit flush on his temple. He started bleeding soon after he was taken off the field.
Rachin Ravindra uncertain for Champions Trophy
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) later revealed that Rachin suffered lacerations. The injury ruled him out of the tri-series, which involved New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa. 10 days later, the opener still isn’t 100%.
New Zealand’s captain, Tom Latham, had stated that Rachin would train tonight, on the eve of the Pakistan vs. New Zealand match, and only then his fitness can be determined. Latham added that his recovery has been going well, but certain medical protocols are to be followed. Rachin has to be declared fit, given it was a head injury.
“Rachin will train tonight and we’ll get a bit more of an indication of how he’s going. His recovery’s going good, but just need to make sure since it was a pretty nasty injury. When it’s a head injury you just need to make sure things are all right, so just going through the protocols he needs to go through and we’ll wait and see,” Latham told reporters in Karachi.
