Tom Latham confirms, Virat Kohli’s nightmare set for return in IND vs NZ clash

After missing out on the first four games, Tim Southee has recovered from the injury and he is available for selection in IND vs NZ game.

Bad news for Virat Kohli and India Cricket Team. New Zealand skipper Tom Latham has confirmed that Tim Southee is available for selection in IND vs NZ Cricket World Cup clash. Southee has dismissed Virat Kohli 11 times, making it a deadly match-up. Southee has been nursing an injury and has not played so far. But he is likely to return in India vs New Zealand game on Sunday. He also provided an update on Kane Williamson.

“Kane is still nursing his thumb injury. It’s a day-by-day process with him as well. Fingers crossed he’ll be available for later on in the tournament. And in regards to Tim, he’s available for selection,” Tom Latham said at the pre-match press conference.

Virat Kohli vs Tim Southee

  • Test: Dismissed: 3 in 4 matches
  • ODI: Dismissed 6 times in 6 innings
  • T20I: Dismissed once in 3 innings
  • IPL: Dismissed once in 7 innings

The Virat Kohli vs Tim Southee rivalry began back in 2008 when they played the U19 World Cup. Since then, both have traded blows. But it’s Southee who has dismissed him the most.

Southee underwent surgery for fractured thumb in Seotember, making him doubtful for the Cricket World Cup campaign.

However, he has recovered in time to be available. But no such luck with Kane Williamson. Having returned to international cricket after six months, Kiwi skipper suffered another injury as he dislocated his thumb on return against Bangladesh. He remains unavailable.
