‘Told boys to be fearless’ Suryakumar Yadav ecstatic after first series win as Captain

We spoke in the meeting before the game to go out and express yourself and be fearless,” said Suryakumar Yadav.

Team India newest skipper Suryakumar Yadav asked his side to be ‘Fearless’ before the crucial IND vs AUS 4th T20I in Raipur. To note, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. grabbed the five-match T20I series after deflating the World Cup-winning Aussies on December 1 (Friday). Leading India for the first time, Suryakumar was impressive as the captain, Surya asked his side to be fearless ahead of the IND vs AUS series decider.

“Other than toss, everything (went well). Boys showed character and that was most important for us. We spoke in the meeting before the game to go out and express yourself and be fearless. I always love putting Axar under pressure and the way he bowled was unbelievable. The plan (during the death overs) was to go for the yorkers and then see what happens,” said Suryakumar Yadav at the post-match presentation.

Indian spinners decimate Australia

Defending a modest total of 175 runs, left-arm spinner Axar Patel picked up three wickets for only 16 runs, complimented by leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s economical bowling, who bagged one wicket for 17 runs. The pacers also played their part brilliantly by mounting pressure on the Australian batsmen at the right time. With one match left, India lead the series 3-1.

“I was trying a lot of things when I was at home and it came out well today. I tried to stick to my strengths and wasn’t really bothered even I had gotten hit and bowling stump-to-stump was the key to negate the dew factor,” said Player of the match Axar Patel.

“To stay attacking and be mentally strong is important as there is every chance to get hit in this format. When you go with an attitude to pick wickets, will feel much better. During the (injury) break I focused on improving myself and add new variations to my bowling to remain successful at the highest level,” added Patel.
