Tokyo Olympics: Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble lead cricket fraternity in congratulating Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold medal in javeline throw: Proud moment for India as Neeraj Chopra ended India’s 121-year wait for an athletics medal by clinching gold in the javelin final on Saturday. As Neeraj became the first from the country to win gold in track and field in the Olympics, wishes flooded for India’s javelin thrower. The cricketing fraternity erupted with joy where the likes of Virender Sehwag and Anil Kumble were the first ones to extend the congratulatory messages.

Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal is only the second for India in the individual category after Abhinav Bindra. After the javelin thrower registered the gold medal for India, the Asian country records its best-ever Olympic medal tally of 7.
