Following a tiring 12542 kilometers and 16-hour journey from Mumbai to New York, Virat Kohli has decided to give himself a rest. The former Indian skipper had reached the USA yesterday, just a day before the IND vs BAN T20 World Cup warm-up match was scheduled to start.
Rest more important than practice
According to a PTI report, the Indian management and Kohli had decided to have three practice sessions before taking the field for a match. This means that he’ll now be in action directly on June 5 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
Given how much cricket he’s played over the past two months, causing him not only physical but also mental fatigue, it’s wise that Virat Kohli decided to have some well-earned rest. He’ll also be jet-lagged due to his journey from India to the USA, and to put extra pressure on his body, leading to an injury, would be the last thing he or India want.
