“Time to move on from Jos Buttler”: Nasser Hussain put forwards Harry Brook to be next England Captain

England play their last group stage of ICC Champions Trophy against South Africa

The England Cricket Team has been knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy. The Three Lions were ousted after losses to Australia and Afghanistan. Now former England captain Nasser Hussain claims his best choice to replace Jos Buttler as captain would be Harry Brook. Hussain emphasised that it is now time to move on from Jos Buttler.

Jos Buttler‘s position as the captain of the England team has been raised. Nasser Hussain claimed that Harry Brook is the best option to replace Buttler. But he believes that the options for captaincy are pretty limited.

Who can replace Jos Buttler as captain?

“Harry Brook would be my choice as England’s next limited-overs captain now it’s clearly time to move on from Jos Buttler. If you’re having to think about being England captain, as Buttler said he would be after Champions Trophy elimination earlier this week, you probably know you’re done,” Nasser Hussain wrote on Daily Mail.

“The truth is though that as far as future leaders go, the cupboard is pretty bare and some of that is simply because not enough domestic 50-over cricket is being played,” said Hussain.

Harry Brook has previously captained his side in ODIs. It came last year in the ODI series against Australia. However, there is a problem. Hussain claims since Brook is a regular in Test, and since England has a packed red-ball schedule this season, it can be a tough job. He doesn’t want Brook, a young player, to be burdened so much.

“And there would be issues with appointing Brook. Namely whether, in such an important year that includes a home Test series against India and ends with the Ashes, you want to pass on all the burdens associated with leading a struggling side onto a young man and make his life a bit more difficult as a result,” he concluded.
