The ICC T20 World Cup is upon us. With just 45 days remaining, time is running out for ace pacer Mohammed Siraj. On the other hand, after some explosive exploits in IPL 2024, Riyan Parag’s selection for Team India is also up for consideration.
Time up for Siraj?
If Mohammed Siraj has to make it to the ICC T20 World Cup, he needs to deliver fast. The ace pacer has been poor in IPL 2024 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. So far Siraj has played 6 games, bowled 22 overs, leaked 229 runs after having bagged 4 wickets.
Mohammed Siraj’s poor run in the shortest format of the game continues as he still has a high economical rate of 10.40. With no Mohammed Shami, India is is facing a lack of pace options. Should Siraj want to find his name in the Indian squad he will have to put in some huge performances. On the other hand, the likes of Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan are on the race to compete for the squad.
Chance for Riyan Parag?
Riyan Parag is having a sensational season. He was the highest scorer of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and has continued his brilliant form in IPL 2024. The Rajasthan Royals is the current second highest run getter in IPL 2024, just behind Virat Kohli.
The 22-year-old batter has amassed 318 runs from 7 games with 3 fifties and a healthy average of 63.6. His stunning form has been noticed by the BCCI Selection Committee and thus will be fairly considered for a spot in the Indian Team for the ICC T20 World Cup.
