‘Ticks all boxes’ Fans hail Ajit Agarkar for ‘perfect’ Asian Games 2023 squad

The men’s cricket competition will take place from September 28 to October 8 in a T20 format.

Asian Games 2023: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced men and women’s squad for the Asian Games 2023. While many were expecting the return of Shikhar Dhawan as captain, Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Co. picked young Rituraj Gaikwad for the leadership role.

While it was a surprising move by the selectors, Indian cricket fans expressed their excitement over a young Indian squad.

Netizens took to Twitter to express their ‘satisfaction’ with the squad and applauded Ajit Agarkar for making right decisions in his first assignment as Chief selector.

Sundar, Tripathi, Dube earn re-call

Washington Sundar, who has been in and out of the Indian squad due to injuries, has been re-called for Continental Games. Shivam Dube also makes a comeback to the side alongside Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Mavi.

Asian Games is set to take place in China this year from September 23 to October 8, 2023. While Gaikwad will lead men’s team, Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the women’s squad. The men’s cricket competition will take place from September 28 to October 8 in a T20 format.

Meanwhile the women’s tournament will take place on September 19-28.
