Back last year, Rajasthan Royals were very close in owing the County cricket club for a price of £25 million. But the deal fail through. And now, a year later, Sunrisers Hyderabad have apparently submitted a bid of £50 million, double of what RR initially offered.
Another player who are holding talks is Lucknow Super Giants. It remains to be seen if the RPSG group has submitted a bid. however, the group has held serious talks with the club. Recently, LSG lost out in a bid to buy Hampshire which ultimately went DC’s way for a whopping price of £120m.
The team who goes on to win the bid for Yorkshire will also own the Headingly Cricket Ground. As for the County club, they are will to undergo a change in ownership to survive for the upcoming season.
“Unfortunately, there is no doubt that without swift and decisive action, YCCC (Yorkshire County Cricket Club) will be fighting for its survival during 2024,” Colin Graves wrote to the members.
“The club is approaching borrowing limits and owes crucial operating partners considerable sums, all while being consigned to further financial losses in 2024,” he added.
