This too shall pass: Babar Azam gets clean bowled by local spinner amid rumours of losing captaincy 2nd time

Babar Azam is currently enduring his worst ever year, averaging 33.6 with zero centuries across all formats.

“This too shall pass,” wrote Babar Azam to sympathize with Virat Kohli when the Indian modern-day great was enduring a tough patch as a batter. However, the coin has flipped so hard that Babar is now failing to score runs in a local practice match as well.

Watch Babar Azam get cleaned up in a practice match

Babar, who had a terrible Test series against Bangladesh recently, played a practice match ahead of the fresh and upcoming Champions One-Day Cup 2024. The once-unstoppable Babar has been struggling to convert starts into big scores. His recent dismissal in a practice match, where he was clean-bowled by a relatively unknown spinner Mohammad Asghar, was just another reminder he is in a massive slump.

It was a full delivery by Asghar but on the middle stump. Babar tried to slog sweep the delivery but failed to connect the delivery at all. The ball shattered onto Babar’s leg stump, with Shan Masood, standing at the other hand, also directing that the ball spun in after pitching.
