Rashid Latif slams PCB claiming they will blame Gary Kirsten if ‘Pakistan loses’

Rashid Latif has claimed that PCB will blame Gary Kirsten if Pakistan Cricket Team goes on to lose ICC T20 World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come under the scanner yet again. Former keeper-batter Rashid Latif has hit hard at the apex board after the announcement of new head coach Gary Kirsten. Latif has slammed the board for the late appointment of the head coach. He claimed that after Pakistan lose in the ICC T20 World Cup, the board will blame Gary Kirsten.

Just a week ago, Pakistan went on to appoint the successful coach. Kirsten won the ODI World Cup with India back in 2011 and has been successful in IPL. Latif claimed that all the top teams know their team, squad and the head coach well before hand, and not just weeks before a major ICC tournament.

Rashid Latifi slams PCB

“Gary Kirsten has been a successful coach for India, and also in franchise cricket. But timing (of his appointment) is wrong, the problem that has always arisen in Pakistan is timing. This is above my head… Next month we are going to the World Cup. On the road to the World Cup, we are playing 7 matches. The time is very short. If they lose, the board will blame Kirsten or Babar Azam. This is our tradition. I will not blame Babar or Kirsten,” Rashid Latif said.

The ICC T20 World Cup is slated to commence in USA on 2nd June. While the rest of the teams have prepared well before hand, it is apparently a last minute call by PCB to appoint a new head coach before the start of the tournament. Kirsten will lead the Pakistan Cricket Team in white ball format and will take over the reins of the side from the England series.

“Today, if I know that this is my head coach, this is my captain and this is my selection committee… Momentum is like what happens in Australia, India, England that they know these are our 12-13 certain players and this is my coach. You should have known all this 6-8 months or even a year in advance,” Rashid concluded.
