They look like amateurs: Pragyan Ojha slams ‘unsettled Pakistan’ after Bangladesh defeat

Catch what Pragyan Ojha, who was part of No. 1 ranked Test team of India, had to say about Pakistan's dismal series loss against Bangladesh

A watershed moment arrived for Bangladesh cricket but at the expense of Pakistan, who continued their horrible form at home. After a 10-wicket mauling in the first Test, Bangladesh recorded a historic come-from-behind triumph to floor Pakistan by 6 wickets for a 2-0 series win in Rawalpindi.

Following the clean sweep registered by Bangladesh on Pakistan, Insidesport had an exclusive chat with Pragyan Ojha. He went on to declare that Pakistani players, despite having a great deal of potential, looked like ‘amateurs’. Amateurs are those who lack proficiency in a specific activity, and Pakistan completely squandered their chances.

They had Bangladesh on the mat at one point (26/6) but then lost the grip after Litton Das’ expectational century. “I think that if you see Pakistan team, irrespective of having a great side with some talented bowlers and batters, they look like amateurs,” Pragyan Ojha said to Insidesport.

While this was a landmark for Bangladesh, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that Pakistan cricket at their all-time low. Not one or two but it is now ten Test matches that Pakistan have failed to win at home in the last three years. This is quite baffling knowing that the other team who are yet to win a Test match at home is Zimbabwe, who have played half of the game Pakistan have played.

Pragyan Ojha questions ‘unsettled’ Pakistan

The former left-arm spinner, who took 144 wickets for India, was an integral part of the 2010 Indian Test team, that even achieved the No. 1 ICC Rankings. The 37-year-old believes that the entire Pakistan cricket is pretty much ‘unsettled’ courtesy of all outside noise apart from on-ground cricket.

When you look at Pakistan, there are a lot of things coming out. The way things are there in Pakistan, the experts or the people who are running Pakistan cricket, the way they’re handling things, I feel it looks a little unsettled.,” said Pragyan Ojha added.

Ojha, who is a three-time IPL winner, even brought back the famous Pakistan 10-wicket win over India at the T20 World Cup 2021 when they thoroughly outclassed the Men in Blue for the first time in a World Cup. He asserted that they are the same bunch of player but it is the mindset which have forced them to lose this often in recent times.

If you remember the T20 World Cup (2021), it is the same Pakistan team that beat India without losing any wicket. So I think if you talk about the potential, they have it. But it’s all in the mind. I think once you’re not settled, once you’re thinking too many things, thinking your game, you’re thinking about things which are not in your control. Those are the things which will affect you,” asserted Ojha.
