‘There is only one Universe Boss, not even Suryakumar Yadav can come near me,’ says Chris Gayle

‘There is only one Universe Boss, not even Suryakumar Yadav can come near me,’ says Chris Gayle

Former West Indies batter Chris Gayle stressed that he is one of a kind, proclaiming himself as the sole ‘Universe Boss’ without any comparison.

India‘s star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is frequently likened to South Africa legend AB de Villiers due to his remarkable ability to hit the ball 360 degrees. Some even applaud him as the “New Universe Boss” for his unparalleled dominance, unaffected by conditions, bowling attacks, or circumstances. However, West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle, who proudly dubs himself the ‘Universe Boss,’ appears to be displeased with this comparison.

“No, there’s no other Gayle. There will never ever be another Gayle. There will never ever be. It’s only going to be one Universe Boss, just one,” he told the Hindustan Times.

Suryakumar Yadav’s T20 sparkle post ODI World Cup

Following a relatively subdued performance in the ODI World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the spotlight with his impactful contributions in T20Is. Despite the disappointment in the World Cup final for India, Suryakumar, now leading the team in the T20I series against Australia, showcased his prowess by smashing a commanding 42-ball 80 in the first match. This blistering innings, adorned with four sixes and nine boundaries, highlighted his ability to dominate in the shortest format of the game.

Just four nights later, Suryakumar continued his T20 heroics, contributing to India’s early 2-0 lead in the five-match series. In his 10-ball cameo, he struck two sixes, further emphasizing his impact and proficiency in T20 cricket.

These back-to-back performances, coming on the heels of the ODI World Cup, prompted discussions about the enigma that Suryakumar presents in the two white-ball formats. However, it also reignited conversations about his formidable presence and effectiveness in the T20 arena.

Although Chris Gayle promptly changed the subject, he praised India captain, Rohit Sharma, for adopting a more aggressive batting approach in the ODI World Cup. Gayle acknowledged that Sharma’s bold style played a crucial role in India’s journey to the final.

“I like his aggressive batting. I want batters to destroy bowlers, and Rohit is one of them who does that,” he said.
