“The kind of freedom we’ve got is unbelievable”: Hardik Pandya paises Gambhir and Surya

Hardik Pandya credits captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir for giving the team freedom, highlighting how their leadership has been key to India’s T20I series win.

After India’s 3-0 T20I series victory against Bangladesh, Hardik expressed gratitude towards Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir. Named the Player of the Series, Hardik credited their leadership for providing the team with the freedom to perform in the IND vs BAN series. “The kind of freedom the skipper and coach have given has been fantastic. When the dressing room enjoys everyone’s success, it pushes us to do more,” Hardik said during the post-match presentation.

Surya over Hardik as India’s captain

Suryakumar Yadav was appointed Team India’s T20I captain following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format. Many believed Hardik Pandya, the natural successor, would step into the role, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team management decided to hand the reins to Surya. Despite initial speculation about a potential strain in their relationship, Hardik and Surya have proven to be strong partners.

Focus on Fitness and Success

Reflecting on his own performance, Hardik attributed his success to fitness and workload management. He said, “Body has been fantastic, God has been kind. The process continues, nothing changes.”

When asked about his standout shot from the match, Hardik recalled a stylish helicopter chip over the cover region, a moment that showcased his finesse and confidence on the field.
