The Hundred: Shafali Verma’s masterclass guides Birmingham Phoenix to 10 wickets victory- India batting sensation Shafali Verma on Monday produced a masterclass to help Birmingham Phoenix clinch 10 wickets each over Welsh Fire. She slammed 76 runs off 42 balls after completing fifty off just 22 deliveries. The 17-year-old slammed a couple of sixes and nine boundaries in her innings. She shared an unbeaten 131 runs partnership with Evelyn Jones for the opening wicket.
“That was so nice, so good for me. I was not doing good for the team but I backed myself and played my game. I was slowing down because of [Eve Jones’] fifty. I enjoy the team. They are so nice. I’m still learning in every match,” said Shafali Verma post-match as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
