The Hundred: Sam Billings says Jason Roy can light up the Hundred like Brendon McCullum in IPL; Report
With just a day left for the inaugural season of The Hundred men’s tournament, England wicket-keeper Sam Billings has challenged Jason Roy to emulate Brendon McCullum’s famous 158 not out in IPL 2008 opening match. He will lead Oval Invincibles in the opening match against Manchester Originals. McCullum had slammed 10 fours and 13 sixes during 73-ball innings in the opening match of the IPL inaugural season while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
“We’ve seen what Jason can obviously in the T20Is [against Pakistan]. He’s done it for a long time and he does enjoy being the main guy. As an opening batter, like McCullum, he provides the fireworks,” Billings said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
Meanwhile, Billings has recovered from the COVID-19 after testing positive after 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka last month. He has come up with some plans for his team after spending some time away from cricket. He caught up with Invincibles head coach Tom Moody.
