The Ashes is On – England Tour of Australia: After lots of ifs and buts, Joe Root’s England team has agreed to tour Australia as scheduled. This means after various doubts iconic series between Australia & England will play as scheduled. According to reports in England & Australian media, Root and his team agreed to tour after Cricket Australia made a 2nd presentation to the ECB & the players.

The Ashes is On – England Tour of Australia: Both Sydney Morning Herald & The Telegraph has reported that Joe Root was left satisfied after the 2nd briefing by Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley on Monday night.
The Telegraph in London reported that Root’s mind was made up after the second briefing with Hockley, which was arranged last night by CA to ensure any queries from the initial information session on Monday.
How the Ashes Condurum was resolved?
- The paper further reported that the most pressing issue of quarantine norms for the players families were addressed by Cricket Australia.
- Now the families of players would be allowed to quarantine in a Yara Valley Resort booked exclusively for them.
- This measure, in addition to the resort facilities offered to the two groups of players, staff and families arriving into the Gold Coast in November either side of the Twenty20 World Cup, was critical to reassuring Root and his players that they would not be facing two weeks confined to a hotel room on arrival.
Over the weekend, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had contacted its men’s players and management to provide them with the latest information about the proposed arrangements for this winter’s scheduled Ashes tour.
“We remain in regular and positive dialogue with Cricket Australia over these arrangements as the picture is constantly evolving. With health and wellbeing at the forefront, our focus is to ensure the tour can go ahead with conditions for players and management to perform at their best,” ECB had said in an official statement.
“We will continue talking to our players this week to share the latest information and seek feedback,” it added.
Later this week, the ECB Board will meet to decide whether the conditions in place are sufficient for the tour to go ahead and enable the selection of a squad befitting a series of this significance.
Earlier, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had made an intervention in order to ensure that the upcoming Ashes series against Australia goes ahead later this year as planned. Johnson raised the issue of a travel ban on the families of England’s cricketers with Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison. Both Prime Ministers met over dinner on a diplomatic visit to Washington DC.
