Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from cricket at the age of 38 the other day. And now one of his best mates, Virat Kohli has taken to social media to bid goodbye to his fellow compatriot. Be it for Delhi or for the Indian Cricket Team, the duo have been faithful servants.
Be it on the field or off the field, Virat Kohli shares a strong bond with Shikhar Dhawan. And after Dhawan announced his retirement, Kohli heaped huge praises for the former Indian opener.
“Shikhar @SDhawan25 from your fearless debut to becoming one of India’s most dependable openers, you’ve given us countless memories to cherish. Your passion for the game, your sportsmanship and your trademark smile will be missed, but your legacy lives on. Thank you for the memories, unforgettable performances and always leading with your heart. Wishing you the best in your next innings, off the field Gabbar! 🏏🇮🇳,” Kohli wrote on social media.
Shikhar Dhawan Retirement
After 34 Test matches, 167 ODI and 68 T20I matches, Shikhar Dhawan has finally decided to hang up his boots. The southpaw has been out of favour from the India Cricket Team for the past couple of years. Earlier, this year he was also snubbed from the BCCI Central Contract.
This essentially meant that his career for the Men in Blue is over. And now before the start of the domestic season in India, Dhawan has decided to call it ends, both for his international and domestic cricket career.
