Tejashwi Yadav, before becoming a prominent politician, had a brief stint in cricket. He was signed by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2012. However, he did not get an opportunity to play in any IPL matches and remained on the reserve bench throughout his tenure.

In addition to his IPL involvement, Tejashwi played for the Jharkhand cricket team in domestic cricket. He participated in a few matches across different formats but did not have a significant impact. His cricket career was short-lived as he eventually shifted his focus to politics.
