History
In October 2022, the BCCI revealed plans for a five-team women’s franchise cricket tournament to be held in March 2023. Adani Group, known for owning the Gujarat Giants kabaddi team, secured one of the franchises. Mithali Raj joined the Gujarat Giants as a mentor on January 30, 2023. Rachael Haynes was appointed as head coach in February 2023. During the inaugural player auction on February 13, 2023, Gujarat Giants enlisted 18 players for their squad. Despite their efforts, the team ended at the bottom of the group stage in the tournament’s debut season.
