Teams where Scott Boland would have been a perfect fit in IPL

After his magical performances in the recent India vs Australia series, Scott Boland has become a fan favourite. Though he's not in IPL 2025, let’s see which teams he'd have been a perfect fit for.

Scott Boland, who created havoc among Indian batters in the recently held IND vs AUS series, has always found a way to make his mark in Tests, despite not being consistently part of Australia’s bowling plans. In the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India failed to replicate their past success and lost the series 1-3 after holding the trophy for 10 years, Boland was the key difference between India and winning.

In the final Test, he took 10 wickets, dismissing every crucial Indian batter and drawing big attention for his exceptional performance. And now many fans were wondering why Boland did not participate in the IPL 2025 auction, as he would have been a top pick for several teams.

Since he has been a wonderful bowler who has an ability to take wickets whenever the team needed it, the reality is that since he is not coming for IPL 2025, But which IPL teams could have benefitted the most from his inclusion? Take a look at three teams where Scott Boland would have been a perfect fit for IPL 2025 .

Teams where Scott Boland would have been a perfect fit in IPL

RCB

The first team where he would have been perfect is Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who always feel the need for improvement in their bowling. Many fans also believe that the team lacks proper bowlers who can attack. In the past, we saw how they crumbled despite making big runs, losing matches by conceding too many runs. In this scenario, a player like Scott Boland would have been a perfect inclusion, as he is known for controlling runs and pulling batters down. If this Australian bowler had been available in the auction, we could surely have expected RCB to raise their bid for him.

CSK

Many people are unaware that Scott Boland had a brief stint in the IPL under MS Dhoni in 2016. He played for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant and came in for two games where he conceded 54 runs and took two wickets. Having previously played under MS Dhoni, who is currently not the captain of CSK but remains an important player for the CSK team, Boland could have benefitted from Dhoni’s guidance and possibly become a consistent part of the playing XI.

Just like RCB, CSK also needs bowlers, but they have covered almost all the bases this time by acquiring strong names in both the spin and pace departments. However, if Boland were part of the squad, he could have brought game changing moments for CSK in IPL 2025.

PBKS

A team with many Australian players in IPL 2025 is Punjab Kings. It is rightly said that PBKS needs to earn a strong reputation, and that’s why they did well in the IPL 2025 auction, acquiring some big players in both batting and bowling, including Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.

However, if Boland had been part of the squad, he could have solved Punjab Kings’ middle-over bowling issues. We’ve seen many times how PBKS lost their grip in the middle overs by conceding too many runs. Although they now have a strong bowling unit, players like Boland would certainly not have been a bad option, and he could have brought freshness to the camp.
