Kolkata Knight Riders might have won the IPL 2024 Trophy. But there won’t be any celebrations in Kolkata. The initial plans of a victory parade has been thwarted mainly owing to bad weather conditions in the City of Joy. After winning the title in Chennai on Sunday, the team couldn’t return to Kolkata the following day.
Kolkata experienced the effects of Cyclone Remal on early Monday morning which disrupted the aviation transport system. InsideSport has learned that the Kolkata Knight Riders team is thus returning to Kolkata on Tuesday, i.e 28th May. The bad weather conditions has thus ditched any plans of victory parade in Kolkata.
No Victory Parade!
While the team has returned, some of the players have returned home like Venkatesh Iyer. On the other hand, the team is preparing for a Meet and Greet event in the weekend. However, the plan for the that is yet to be finalised. The event will be finalised in the coming days.
Another major concern for no Victory Parade is owing to the on going elections across the country. The Election is still due to take place in Kolkata on 1st June which falls under Phase 7 of elections in West Bengal.
After a long gap of 10 years, Kolkata Knight Riders won IPL 2024 after dominating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals. Shreyas Iyer lifted the trophy for the Knights after Gautam Gambhir lifted it last in 2014.
