Team India’s WTC Final 2025 qualification scenario depending on India vs Australia 4th Test result

Team India’s WTC Final 2025 qualification scenario depending on India vs Australia 4th Test result

South Africa has already qualified. Sri Lanka, Australia, and India all have a chance to make it to the WTC Final.

The India vs Australia 4th Test isn’t far away from ending. A little under 2 hours are left before the play ends at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). A victory for the India cricket team has already been ruled out, given they still need over 200 runs with less than 30 overs left and just four batters remaining. However, the other two results (draw and Australia winning) are very much possible. How will the result of the MCG Test affect Team India’s World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 qualification? Take a look below.

India’s WTC Final qualification scenario (If India vs Australia 4th Test ends in a draw)

With just one more left to play in the WTC 2023-25 cycle, Team India doesn’t necessarily have their future in their own hands. From the looks of it, they can somehow sneak in even if they draw the Sydney Test, but a loss would rule them out.

Australia win 5th (Sydney) TestIndia are out of the WTC Final race
India win 5th (Sydney) TestIndia moves up to 2nd on the points table (go from 54.63% to 57.02% on point percentage) if Australia don’t win 1-0 or 2-0 against Sri Lanka

India’s WTC Final qualification scenario (If Australia win 4th Test)

With just one more left to play in the WTC 2023-25 cycle, Team India would have to win the Sydney Test, but even then there will be a few permutations and combinations. A draw or loss would rule them out.
