Shubman Gill has turned 24 years old today, and wishes are pouring in for the stylish right-hand batter from across the globe. Within just a short span of time, the Punjab batter has managed to shatter quite a few records and has earned the title of Prince. Ever since making his international debut in 2022, Gill has cemented his place as an opener across formats. Currently, the birthday boy is in Sri Lanka playing Asia Cup. Team India have planned a special surprise for Gill.
Rohit Sharma & Co have a day off before they take on Pakistan on Sunday (September 10). Gill, who was dismissed cheaply when these two teams met first last Saturday, will be keen to make amends this time around. The right-hand batter got back to form against Nepal by stroking 67 and will be keen to continue that form against arch-rivals Pakistan. Team India members have gathered in Colombo, and a birthday cake will likely be cut in the evening for Gill.

For the uninitiated, India qualified for the Super 4 stage by beating Nepal by 10 wickets. Their first match against Pakistan was not completed due to rain. Both teams would be hoping the rain stays clear this time around. It is imperative for India to test players form especially, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer. All three players are returning after a long time.
Rahul missed two matches against Pakistan and Nepal and is now declared fully fit for the remaining games. The LSG skipper’s presence in the middle order will lend a solid balance to the team, owing to his wicketkeeping ability. However, in his absence, Ishan Kishan has done well, smashing six fifties. The last fifty came at number 5, a role Rahul has excelled in ODIs since last year.
It remains to be seen if India persists with Kishan or gives Rahul a chance owing to his good form
