Team India reaches 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, Rohit Sharma & Rahul Dravid lift trophy with PM Modi

Team India spent almost two hours at the Prime Minister's house before leaving for a victory parade in Mumbai.

Following their hero’s welcome in New Delhi, Team India finally met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in what was a long-awaited meeting for the fans. The meeting was a part of the T20 World Cup 2024 winner’s packed schedule after their triumphant return from Barbados.

The team met Prime Minister Modi at his residence (7, Lok Kalyan Marg) at 11 am IST, where they were congratulated for their historic T20 World Cup triumph. The meeting lasted for about two hours, during which PM Modi urged the team to go on a title-winning spree after the team ended their 13-year old World Cup title drought.

Breakfast with champions!

A video shared by ANI showed Prime Minister Modi and the Indian team players sharing a laugh as they reminisced about their World Cup campaign. Head coach Rahul Dravid and players Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya also spoke during the meeting. BCCI secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny attended the breakfast meeting as well. PM Modi hosted the players for a special breakfast, during which he listened to their experiences from the World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean.

The Rohit Sharma-led side wore customized jerseys with ‘Champions’ written on them as they left to meet PM Modi. After the meeting, the team departed from the Prime Minister’s residence and headed back to the New Delhi airport. From there, they will travel to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade, which will start from Nariman Point and end at the Wankhede Stadium.
