Team India touch down in Guwahati ahead of World Cup warm-up game

Team India is set to play two warm-up games before their World Cup opener against Australia.

Team India have arrived in Guwahati ahead of the World Cup warm-up games. Thousands of fans cheered for the Indian team as they came outside from the airport. Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been included in the final World Cup squad in place of injured Axar Patel, travelled with the Men in Blue to Guwahati.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya will join the rest of the Indian squad later today. Team India is set to play two warm-up games before their World Cup opener against Australia. The Men in Blue will face England on September 30 in Guwahati and will travel to Thiruvananthapuram for their final warm-up game against Netherlands on October 3.

The England team, led by Jos Buttler, will land in Mumbai today and then reach Guwahati by midnight. It has been reported that both the Indian and England cricket teams will stay at the
Radisson Blu Hotel.

Ashwin replaces Axar in World Cup squad

Notably, Team India had to make a forced change ahead of the World Cup 2023. All-rounder Axar Patel failed to recover on time from his injury and has been replaced by Ashwin. Notably, the off-spinner was included in squad for IND vs AUS series and impressed in the first two ODIs he played which raised speculations around his selection in India’s final World Cup squad.
