Team India coach: 5 challenges awaiting The Wall

  1. Mould Indian cricket team togetherRahul Dravid will have to reunite the team that has reportedly broken into two parts. Last month, there were rumours related to a possible rift between Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. A separate report stated that senior cricketers complained about Virat Kohli’s attitude to the BCCI secretary after India’s loss to New Zealand in WTC Final.

  1. Partnership with Virat Kohli- The Wall will have to quickly bond up with India captain Virat Kohli who has a completely opposite nature to Kohli. While the 32-year-old is a fiery character, Rahul Dravid is known to keep it cool and calm. We have earlier witnessed Anil Kumble’s fallout with Kohli, leading to his resignation. However, Kohli has huge respect for Dravid off the field. What will happen in the dressing room remains to be seen.

  1. End India’s jinx for ICC trophiesWith the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 and 50-over World Cup 2023, Rahul Dravid is expected to guide Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the two world cup titles. India had last won the 50-over WC in 2011. He has already guided the Under-19 India team to a World Cup. Now, he will be expected to emulate his excellence with the senior team.

  1. India tour of South Africa- Virat Kohli & Co is set to tour South Africa in November 2021. India are still awaiting their first Test series victory against Proteas in their backyard. After a phenomenal performance against Australia and England, Dravid is expected to end India’s series losing jinx in South Africa (since 1992). He will also ensure that India defeats England in next year’s Test series decider.

  1. India tour of New ZealandIndia is all set to tour New Zealand during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India coach. He will look to guide India to a Test series victory in New Zealand after a gap of 13 years. India had last defeated Kiwis in the Test series (1-0) in 2008/9.
