Tauseef Ahmed appointed interim chief selector amid Inzamam-up-Haq conflict of interest probe

Inzamam resigned last month after questions were raised over his dual roles as Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company representing top cricketers.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have appointed former cricketer Tauseef Ahmed as the interim chief selector for the Pakistan cricket team after Inzamam ul Haq’s resignation last month.

Tauseef’s first assignment as chief selector will be picking the national squad for Pakistan’s upcoming Australia tour for the three-match Test series starting from December 14.

PCB have also appointed ex-cricketer Wajahatullah Wasti as the head of the junior selection committee.

On October 30, Inzamam had stepped down from the post of chief selector after the conflict of interest allegations stating that he was a partner in a company that manages players.

“People speak without research. Questions were raised on me so I decided that it was better I resign,” Inzamam said in a statement.

PCB’s Media and Communications head Aalia Rasheed on Tuesday said that Inzamam should have informed the PCB about any potential conflict of interest.

The media head also clarified that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who is also a director at the UK-based company, is not part of the investigation against Inzamam.
