Which cricket fanbases have the most die-hard fans? It’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and that too by a long distance. Their franchise’s men’s team has underperformed for the last 16 seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and RCB fans have persisted with them.
But their women’s team brought glory to the franchise in just the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) earlier this month. To pay tribute to the Bengaluru queens, a die-hard RCB fan decided to have their names tattooed on his left arm.
Will RCB replicate WPL’s success in the IPL?
After RCB-W’s title run, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis expressed their desire to replicate what Smriti Mandhana and co. did and lift their maiden IPL trophy. But, so far, the side has made a poor start to the IPL 2024 season. They made a losing start against the Chennai Super Kings in the season opener but won their first home game to get themselves on the board.
However, the joy was short-lived, with the Kolkata Knight Riders handing them their first home defeat. Luckily for them, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik have been firing. And if Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, and Cameron Green join in, they’ll be a fearsome batting unit.
As for their bowling, Vijaykumar Vyshak has been the only shining light, and he came in as an impact player. If their bowling unit finds their feet, they very well could find themselves in the Top 4.
