Taskin Ahmed set to ditch Test cricket, pacer shifts focus to white cricket to prolong career amidst injury concerns

Taskin Ahmed is ready to call it ends to his Test career. The Bangladeshi pacer will set his focus on white ball cricket owing to his injury concerns. Reports claim that Taskin has sent a letter to BCB where he has requested the board to consider him only in white ball cricket.

Taskin’s decision is not unnatural. Many cricketers have sought early retirement from Test cricket to prolong their career. This also gives them time to recover from their injuries. As per Cricbuzz, Taskin has sent a letter to the BCB where he stated that he can deliver more in white ball cricket.

Taskin is currently suffering from a shoulder injury and feels his burden would be reduced if he focuses only on white-ball cricket. “He( Taskin) had sent a letter stating that he does not want to play longer-version cricket. After the game [of the ongoing BPL] is over we will sit with him in this regard,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus to Cricbuzz.

“Let the coach [head coach Chandika Hathurusingha] come and we need to talk with him as well,” he said.

Reports further claim that Chandika Hathurusingha is trying to change the pacer’s decision. In the ODI World Cup, Taskin suffered a shoulder tear and missed a couple of matches.

Later he was not given a NOC to take part in IPL 2024. With the ICC T20 World Cup barely a few months away, the board is unwilling to take a risk. They believe Taskin should get ample time to recover form his shoulder injury and be ready for the T20 World Cup.
